We're one of Galway’s first internationally recognized presenters and consultants in the Pilates-inspired movement technique. We has been teaching Pilates in Galway since 1999.
We began our fitness career as a Gym and Aerobics instructor (NECHS, ITEC) in the Galway Lawn Tennis Club and Peak Physique Health Club back in the mid Nineties, before moving to London to work as the Studio Manager and Co-coordinator with one of the city’s premier health clubs – Holmes Place, Chelsea.
As a Personal Trainer and freelance Aerobics instructor (Body Pump, Spin, Tae Bow and Aqua), we soon discovered the benefits of educating our clients and class members of the importance of better posture and core stabilization.
Training in the Pilates method and technique seemed the natural progression.
We have trained with the Pilates Institute, UK, in October 1999 and taught the first Pilates class (outside of Dublin), in Ireland, in the Student Centre, NUI, Galway, in late 1999.
Due to the popularity of the Pilates classes in NUI, Galway and in Aoife Ni Eochaidh Physiotherapy, Devon Park House, Salthill, Galway, we has continued to travel and train extensively with Pilates Institute, having successfully completed Modules 1, 2 & the Pilates related Anatomy and Physiology module and the advanced Teacher Training Module 3.
We is also qualified to teach the Pilates Reformer, Pre and Post natal Pilates, Actively Retired Pilates and the Pilates Exercise Ball and has also attended several Pilates workshops and conventions in Ireland and the UK, in areas such as Pilates Wunda chair, Back-care Pilates and Senior Pilates.
We works with sports teams such as the Connacht Rugby team, NUIG Rowing team and is currently working on a Pilates program specifically for Golfers.
We are a member of the Pilates Institute (UK), the Register of Exercise Professionals (UK), Fitness Professionals (UK) and the Pilates Method Alliance (USA).
